Step-by-step guide to creating a resume for overseas jobs. What employers look for, common mistakes, and free resume help via WhatsApp.

Your Resume is Your First Impression — Make It Count

When applying for overseas jobs, your resume is often the only thing standing between you and an interview. But here is the problem — most Indian workers either do not have a resume at all, or they have one that does not meet international standards.

Do not worry. This guide will walk you through exactly how to create a resume that gets you shortlisted for overseas factory, warehouse, hotel, and construction jobs.

What Overseas Employers Actually Look For

International employers reviewing resumes from Indian workers are looking for three things: Can you do the job? Are you reliable? Will you show up and work hard? They do not care about fancy formatting or long paragraphs. They want clear, honest, and specific information.

The Perfect Resume Structure (1 Page Only)

Your resume should fit on one page. Here is the exact structure:

Section 1: Personal Information — Full name (as on passport), Date of birth, Phone with country code (+91), WhatsApp number, City and state, Passport number and expiry date.

Section 2: Work Experience — List jobs starting with most recent. For each: Company name, Your role, Duration, 2-3 bullet points about what you did. Example: "ABC Garment Factory, Ludhiana — Machine Operator, March 2022 to December 2024. Operated industrial sewing machines 8+ hours daily. Maintained quality with less than 2% defect rate. Trained 3 new operators."

Section 3: Skills — List specific practical skills. Avoid generic "hard working." Instead: Forklift operation, CNC machine, Basic welding, Kitchen prep (Indian and Continental), Plumbing installation.

Section 4: Education — Brief. Highest qualification, school name, year.

Section 5: Languages — Hindi (native), English (basic conversational), etc.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Too long: Keep it to 1 page. Employers spend 10-15 seconds scanning.

Lying about experience: This will get you rejected or sent home. If you have 6 months, write 6 months.

Bad photo: Use passport-style, white background. No selfies.

Missing passport details: Always include passport number and expiry.
